Heart & Soul in Photo Form

Hi! My name is Claire Hambrick, a photographer from North Carolina with ten years of experience photographing people, and I take outstanding film photos. I choose film as my favorite medium for photographing people because film itself feels human; it’s imperfect, emotional, and fickle. In 2026, it feels like an antidote to the overwhelming AI-fication of the world.

I adore connecting with my community members through portraits. I’m honored to have been trusted by so many folks to document their life milestones. If you want to learn more about my approach to portraits, click the button below.

Testimonials

“I contacted Claire to do a very emotional, personal photoshoot to celebrate the life of my soul cat, Goobie. she did an excellent job making us comfortable, wasn’t afraid of trying different things, and she made a difficult time feel less heavy. i look back on the shoot as one of my favorite memories that I have with him. she has a beautiful artistic vision and i always love seeing her bring concepts into reality. i treasure the pictures she took of me and my boy so much, any future photography needs I have, she will be my first call..”

“Claire did a couples photoshoot for my boyfriend and I, and it was everything I had envisioned! She used her creativity and knowledge of cameras and lighting to create beautiful works of art. She is so kind, supportive, and makes you feel very comfortable in front of the camera. Now I can’t imagine having anyone else take my photos. Could not recommend her enough!”

Stephanie

“We love our wedding photos! Claire did an excellent job; they perfectly reflect us as a couple and we will cherish them forever. She also went above and beyond - she thoughtfully took photos during our reception (even though that wasn't our original plan!) and made us a lovely film video from footage she captured during our ceremony and reception. Additionally, she rolled with the punches on our wedding day. The weather looked iffy right before we took pictures and she offered to take our pictures the next day if needed. The weather held, and she braved tick-infested grass to get beautiful shots of us on a hill that showed the surrounding mountains and river. She made us feel so comfortable and made space for us to be ourselves. We genuinely love our pictures and can't wait to display them for forever!”

How to Work together

Signature Portrait Session

Relaxed, empowering portrait sessions begin here. The perfect option for personal portraits, family photos, maternity session, grad photos, couples, branding, and more.

Session Flow:

We’ll meet at the location of our choosing, slowly moving between poses and scenes with supportive guidance from me as I take photos. I’ll encourage you at whatever level of comfort in front of the camera you’re showing up with that day. You’ll hear a LOT of enthusiasm for me, supporting you every step of the way. I will always ask permission before making any hands-on assist (for example, moving a strand of hair, etc), or omitting completely if that’s your preference. I’ll photograph you with lots of film, as well as some digital frames for ultimate versatility in the final gallery.

Prior to the photo session, we’ll chat over a video call to get to know one another, set intentions, and craft a clear vision for our session. When the day of our session comes, you’ll feel clear on what we’re doing and empowered to speak your mind every step of the process.

When we wrap up our session, you’ll receive an edited, curated gallery of your final images within one month of our photoshoot. I’m always happy to provide support on what you want to do with your images; whether that’s thinking strategically of how to incorporate branding photos on your website, or thinking intentionally about which family photos you want to print and hang in your home.

This signature session typically lasts 60 minutes, and starts at $850, broken up into two payments.

FAQs

  • Yes! Every Signature Portrait Session includes plenty of film photos and additional digital photos for ultimate versatility. Clients say that having this mix is one of their favorite parts of their gallery.

  • I love working with down-to-Earth people that are here for the process of film. Film is all about embracing natural imperfection: think light leaks, motion blur, and all around capturing emotion rather than a perfectly photoshopped headshot.

If you’re interested in a photo experience that feels natural, fun, and REAL (no ai here!), we might be a great match :)

  • Yes! I’m a romantic through and through. I love photographing love and connection perhaps more than anything. I’m particularly interested in elopements, destinations, and micro weddings that focus on the people and the emotion of the day.

To talk more in detail about your special day, fill out my contact form and I will be in touch with rates and packages :D

  • I love financial transparency — y’all, the economy is tough right now and I do not take for granted the investment you’re making in your photos. That’s your hard earned money!

I used to charge $200 for photoshoots when I was just starting out. My pricing now reflects the 25-30% all small business owners pay in self-employment taxes, material costs for using the finest quality film and scans, general business costs, as well as an hourly rate for myself for the time during our session and editing your gallery that reflects my expertise, education, and ten years experience.

Still have questions about payment? Send me an email, I’m happy to talk more about your situation.

  • Unfortunately no — I take extreme care editing and culling our photos together. Sending out negatives or unedited portraits is kinda like sending out the first draft of book. When you hire me for a portrait session, you know you’re getting an experienced eye for composition, tonal editing, and final gallery curation. The final gallery you receive is never random images; they tell a full story.

  • I’m so glad you asked! First, you’ll fill out my detailed booking form on my ‘Contact’ page. This lets me get a better idea of the work you’re interested in! I’ll be in touch via email within two days of your form submission to ask some follow up questions and answer any of yours.

If it seems like we could be a good fit, I’ll send over some suggested times to chat over a video call. No stress, just getting to know each other! We’ll discuss your vision and nail down our session time and location.

Then, you’ll receive my full booking form, where you’ll review and sign an agreement and pay your 50% deposit.

After that, we’ll be in communication as needed leading up to our photo session! I’m here to answer any questions or talk through whatever ideas you have.

My process is thorough on purpose! I want to make sure you feel informed and on board with this process every step of the way. This ensures that on the day of our photo session, there’s no unnecessary confusion or anxiety; we can be totally present and have fun creating beautiful imagery that you’ll be able to cherish the rest of your life!!!
